The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme, based in Bonn, Germany, plays a vital role in advancing sustainable peace and development globally. Established to promote volunteerism, UNV mobilizes volunteers to support United Nations partners in achieving their goals across development, peace and security, and human rights. With a dedicated team of approximately 150 staff members at its headquarters and over 12,840 UN Volunteers deployed worldwide in 2023, UNV operates regional offices in key locations such as Amman, Bangkok, and Nairobi, along with around 60 Field Units.

UNV offers various avenues for engagement, including volunteer opportunities both locally and internationally, as well as online volunteering. Its strategic framework for 2022-2025 directs efforts towards the Sustainable Development Goals, ensuring the program’s alignment with global priorities. Additionally, the UNV facilitates networking and resources for volunteers through platforms like the Unified Volunteering Platform and promotes initiatives such as the International Volunteer Day.
