UNEP Finance Initiative

The United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP FI) is a pioneering network that unites banks, insurers, and investors to promote sustainable financial practices globally. With over 30 years of experience, UNEP FI facilitates collaboration between financial institutions and the UN, shaping the sustainable finance agenda through the establishment of key frameworks like the Principles for Responsible Banking and Principles for Sustainable Insurance. These frameworks guide more than 500 financial institutions, collectively representing assets surpassing USD 170 trillion, in addressing crucial environmental, social, and governance (ESG) challenges.

UNEP FI supports its members in setting ambitious sustainability targets related to greenhouse gas emissions, nature finance, and promoting social equity.
