The Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) is dedicated to enhancing healthcare access for mothers and children across Texas. As a proactive response to the evolving healthcare needs, HHSC has extended postpartum Medicaid coverage from two to twelve months for eligible women beginning March 1, 2024. This initiative aims to support women's health during this crucial period while also providing a twelve-month postpartum coverage under the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP).

In addition to the postpartum extension, HHSC oversees various programs, including Texas Medicaid, Long-Term Care services, Family Planning, and Healthy Texas Women initiatives. Their comprehensive portfolio extends to the Children's Health Steps program and Medical Transportation, ensuring that families have access to necessary medical services without financial strain.
