The Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA), established in 1979, holds the distinction of being the only artist-founded museum in Los Angeles, dedicated to the collection and exhibition of contemporary art. Housing nearly 8,000 objects, MOCA boasts one of the most significant collections of modern art in the world, with a focus on works created after 1940.

The museum operates across two locations: MOCA Grand Avenue and The Geffen Contemporary at MOCA, alongside Michael Heizer's iconic artwork, Double Negative, situated in Nevada.
