ITBP

The Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) is a specialized armed police force established on October 24, 1962. Tasked with securing the 3,488 km India-China border, the ITBP plays a crucial role in maintaining national defense and stability, particularly in challenging environments located at altitudes from 9,000 to 18,800 feet, where temperatures can plummet to minus 45 degrees Celsius. In addition to border security, the ITBP conducts internal security operations, especially in areas affected by left-wing extremism, and provides essential services during natural disasters as first responders.
