IHRA

The International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) is an influential intergovernmental organization comprised of 35 Member Countries, established in 1998 to confront contemporary challenges surrounding the Holocaust and the genocide of the Roma. IHRA aims to enhance public understanding, remembrance, and education related to these historical atrocities, striving to prevent future genocides.

The organization engages with governments, educators, museum professionals, and researchers to provide resources that strengthen historical records and promote democratic, inclusive societies. Through its various programs, such as the IHRA Grant Program, IHRA funds projects that counter distortion and protect the integrity of historical narratives.

IHRA’s work spans eight focus areas, including educational initiatives and the preservation of Holocaust sites, providing critical tools and recommendations for teaching about these subjects. By fostering international collaboration during Plenary Meetings and other forums, IHRA equips leaders and scholars with the necessary means to advocate for a world committed to remembrance and prevention of genocide.
