Best Friends Animal Society, celebrating its 40th anniversary, is a pioneer in animal welfare, dedicated to saving the lives of pets in need. Founded in 1984 by a group of passionate friends in Utah’s high desert, this organization has evolved from a modest sanctuary into a national movement advocating for a no-kill nation by 2025. Best Friends operates the renowned Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in Kanab, where a diverse array of animals, including dogs, cats, and even birds, find safety and care.

Beyond the sanctuary, Best Friends supports community shelters through five regional programs located in major cities like Los Angeles and New York City. The organization has fostered a network of over 4,800 partners nationwide, encompassing rescue groups and spay/neuter organizations, to enhance pet adoption efforts.
