The Alberta Electric System Operator (AESO) is the independent entity responsible for managing and planning Alberta's electric grid and energy markets. As a not-for-profit organization, AESO ensures that over four million Albertans have access to reliable and affordable electricity while facilitating the transition to renewable energy. Operating 24/7, AESO coordinates supply and demand, dispatching power from the lowest-priced sources available.
