The century-old university changed up its visual identity to modernize its brand.
“Our in-house design team have been guided by the principles of accessibility, confidence and cohesion. Backed by a rigorous testing and consultation process with over 1500 people, the updated identity provides us with a consistent and coherent approach that allows us to tell our story.” according to the University of Sheffield website.
A public research university, the University of Sheffield–also known as TUOS or Sheffield University informally–was formally established in 1905.
It was known as the University College of Sheffield in 1897, with three institutions forming together to establish it (the Sheffield School of Medicine in 1828, Firth College in 1879, and the Sheffield Technical School in 1884).
The University of Sheffield is also one of the first red-brick universities and is part of the Worldwide Universities Network. It is also the founder of the Russel Group, an association of around 24 UK public research universities.
The university has around five faculties: the Faculty of Engineering, the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, the Faculty of Social Sciences, the Faculty of Social Sciences, and the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry, and Health. Among these faculty houses are 50 academic departments and international faculty.
The University of Sheffield offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and Ph.D. courses. Beyond this, the university also houses museums on its campus, such as the Alfred Denny Museum and the Turner Museum of Glass.
