The popular magazine has debuted a new sleeker logo.
“We’ve been remaking Rolling Stone to be faster, harder-hitting, and more vital.” says Noah Shachtman, Editor-in-Chief of Rolling Stone. “Now we’ve got a site to match that mission – highlighting the kind of world-class journalism, iconic imagery, and must-see videos that you’d expect from the bible of pop culture.”
Rolling Stone, or Rolling Stone Magazine, is a monthly-released magazine that primarily focuses on music and pop culture. Founded in 1967 in San Francisco, California by music critics Ralph J. Gleason and Jann Wenner, Rolling Stone was known for covering rock music and the rock scene. By the 1990s, the magazine broadened its audience and dedicated its content to a younger audience by covering popular music.
Currently, the magazine is based in New York City, and as of December 2018, it has released around 700,622 issues. Beyond having a print edition, the magazine also publishes its content online through its website. The current owner of the magazine, Penske Media Corporation, fully purchased Rolling Stone in 2020.
Though currently, the magazine is known for coverage of popular music, Rolling Stone also has two subsections, RS Country and RS Latin, that focus on country and Latin music respectively. The magazine also features album and film reviews as well as political news. One of their more well-known segments, Musicians on Musicians, showcases two artists that interview each other and talk about their influence on the music industry.
