The sportswear company unveiled a new logo not too long after its parent company, KMD Brands, recently announced changes to its corporate identity.
This update to the brand's look was first revealed for the company’s 2022 event, Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach where surfers donned apparel featuring the new logo. “For the first time in a long time, Rip Curl's Women and Men's team will surf under the same logo.” according to a post launching the new identity.
Founded in 1969 in Victoria, Australia, Rip Curl is a retail company that manufactures and designs sportswear, particularly surfing sportswear.
The company is also considered one of the biggest surfing companies in the world and is part of the “big three” of surfing companies alongside Billabong and Quicksilver.
Aside from surfing, Rip Curl also presides over other board sports, including snowboarding, skateboarding, and skiing.
Beyond manufacturing sports gear, the company is a major sponsor for sports teams and even handles sports events. Examples include the Rip Curl SurfSkate Festival and the Rip Curl City Slam. Rip Curl was also the first company to sponsor a professional surfing event.
The company is popular in continents like Europe and North America and has created a campaign called The Search, where Rip Curl partnered with filmmaker Sonny Miller to create a series of surfing films for the campaign. Currently, there are around 330 Rip Curl retail stores around the globe.
