IMDb TV, Amazon's ad-supported video on demand service as rebranded to Amazon Freevee, bringing its identity under the Amazon brand.
Formerly known as IMDb TV, Freevee is a free video on demand or streaming service owned by Amazon.
Freevee features more than 9,000 original and licensed titles from Warner Bros., Sony Pictures Entertainment, MGM Studio, and Universal Pictures. It is available in the United States (US) and the United Kingdom (UK) through dedicated apps for Android TV, LG and Samsung smart TVs, PS4 and PS5, and Xbox, among other devices.
Freevee launched in the US in January 2019 as IMDb Freedive, a free and ad-supported video channel by the Amazon-owned Internet Movie Database (IMDb). In June 2019, IMDb Freedive was renamed IMDb TV. In September 2021, IMDb TV launched in the UK. In April 2022, IMDb TV was rebranded to Freevee.
Freevee’s original titles or Freevee Originals include Hollywood Houselift with Jeff Lewis, Troppo, Judy Justice, and Bosch: Legacy. The streaming service is set to debut in Germany by the end of 2022.
“Customers are increasingly shifting to streaming ad-supported premium content, and we have developed Freevee to deliver them highly sought content with half the commercials of traditional TV,” said Ashraf Alkarmi, director of Freevee, in a press release. “Our new name clearly communicates who we are: An easy-to-navigate streaming service, available to users for free, whenever and wherever they choose to watch some of the greatest Original and licensed content available."
